Carolyn and I just spent the night in Bishop at the Best Western Creekside Inn. It is a beautiful little town…
We enjoyed a relaxing Saturday night dinner at the Whiskey Creek Restaurant across the street from the Best Western. At the counter signing off his bill was a six foot eight character who looked strangely like Jack Bauer’s evil father from last years television series 24. I said, “Excuse me,” and with a smile asked, “24?” And he nodded. We chatted a bit… here’s his photo to identify him… that is if you watch TV and an occasional movie. A familiar face.
I got a call a few weeks ago from the Southwest Regional Office, EFC, and was asked if we would be willing to fill in at the new church plant in this little town (Population, 2,500). We agreed, and thanks to their scheduling, and an after dark arrival, we had the morning to ourselves. See Map.
Curiously, the church does not meet until four in the afternoon at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. So Carolyn and I made our way up the steep road out of town, up towards the High Sierra peaks and Lake Sabrina, all the way reminiscing about the camping trip we took up here years ago when the children were young. Here are a couple of Sunday morning shots…
It was one more of those incredible, unanticipated gifts… We’re thankful.
